FERIT

FERIT provides consulting services in forest and wildlife management. Forest management planning is becoming increasing complex, with planners now required to consider future impacts of forestry activities on ecosystem values such as biodiversity and social opportunites. Spatial forest models that project forest succession and solve for harvest timing and layout greatly enhance planning analysis, but these tools alone do not sufficiently inform on the impacts to ecosystem values. Evaluation of alternative forest management planning scenarios requires a structured approach for analysis of projected future forest conditions and the effects of management options on landscape pattern, biodiversity, wildlife habitat supply, wood supply and social opportunities. The possible influences of climate change on ecosystem pattern and composition adds to the complexity of the problem.

At FERIT we work with your planning team to help arrive at an integrated solution to difficult challenges in forest planning and environmental impact assessment. We have experience with forest management plan scenario analysis, spatial forest planning technologies, landscape pattern analysis, biodiversity assessment, spatial wildlife habitat modeling, bioacoustic wildlife monitoring, geospatial technologies, geostatistical analysis, remote sensing, and GPS. FERIT can work with your team to develop research and information technology solutions to difficult forest ecosystem and wildlife management planning issues..
